I had always heard that when you find a penny it was from an angel. I never took any thought to where? why? or how? I always associated pennies with angels, but after I had an actual angel in heaven it made me wonder. I researched how pennies and angels could connect. That is when I came across the "Pennies From Heaven" poem. After becoming very attached to the poem I started keeping a "penny jar" for pennies that I found on the ground. I always took it as a sign that my angel was close around. I found a lot of comfort in it.
Pennies From Heaven
Today I found a penny,
Just laying on the ground.
But it's not just a penny,
But it's not just a penny,
This little coin I've found.
Found pennies come from heaven.
That's what my Grandpa told me.
He said Angels toss them down.
Oh, how I loved that story.
He said when an Angel misses you,
They toss a penny down,
Sometimes just to cheer you up,
To make a smile out of your frown.
So don't pass by that penny
When you're feeling blue;
It may be a Penny from Heaven
That an Angel's tossed to you.
Pass this on to the people who you care
about and who you feel that are angels to you.
An angel is now watching over you.
I decided to create angel pennies for memory boxes along with bears. I thought this would be comforting to grieving parents and to perhaps gain a smile when they see a penny on the ground.
