Patch Visits The Johnson Homestead!

Let me just start out by saying, we have been waiting for this visit for nearly 2 years! So glad that the time has finally arrived! I was sad that the original Patches disappeared, but Patch (Patches little brother) is just as good and brings just as much love and comfort. If you haven't heard about Patches The Bear visit his blog here. Thank you Ter for helping so many families.

This is Patch visiting Laken's keepsake spot. Most of these items were given to me from other baby loss mothers. The blue/green box was given to me at the hospital, it contains the most important item that I have left besides pictures, her original footprints.

Patch with Laken's bear created by Molly Bears. She weighs the same as Laken did 12oz. Also with her blanket and picture.

Patch had a blast helping out with Laken's Bears next project. We're getting teddy bears, blankets, hats, and Comfort Bags ready for our next delivery!

He also become a Kentucky Wildcats fan while visiting lol!

As I post this I say goodbye to Patch and send him on his way to the next family who needs a patch on their heart.

Laken's Bears creates "comfort bags" for grieving families of miscarriage, stillbirth and infant loss. They help keep families from leaving the hospital empty-handed and to help comfort families while making those tough decisions at the funeral home.

"Laken's Bears was inspired by the loss of our daughter Laken Taylor Johnson. Laken was born extremely premature at 22 weeks and 4 days on April 8, 2010 at 12:09 p.m. weighing a very tiny 12 oz and was 11 inches long. After months of grieving and looking for support and resources on our own, we found that giving back helped heal our hearts the most. We received an empty memory box when Laken was born and we walked out of the hospital with very few items to remember her by. We didn't want this for other families and we wanted to help in some way. It was then February 28th of 2011 that Laken's Bears was created."

These 48 diapers were handcrafted by the Green Family of SLC, Utah and have been donated to Laken's Bears in memory of Laken Taylor Johnson.

"Although no words, however kind,
Can ease the loss you bear --
May it bring a share of comfort
To know that others care.
It's difficult today to see
Beyond the sorrow,
May looking back in memory
Help comfort you tomorrow."
Melissa Johnson -- Laken's Mother.
