Heaven Is For Real

If you haven't read the book "Heaven is for real" by Todd Burpo I really recommend it! I found a lot of comfort in it.

I came acrossed it while wondering around my parents house this evening while my mother was cleaning out one of her shelves in her bedroom. I sat down in her room and talked with her and noticed this book just lying on her bed. Just like it was waiting for me. I asked where did it come from? She said a friend had given it to her. My mom has had a lot of company lately since her breast mastectomy. New and old friends stopping by to visit with her. I was a bit curious since it was based on a child so I started reading. Once I got started I couldn't put it down!

The book is about a little boy named Colton Burpo who has to have an emergecy appendectomy and by a miracle survives the surgery. Once he is well, he is able to tell about his trip to heaven and back. He talks about things only his parents knew and things nobody knows yet. Colton talks about meeting long departed family members. He describes heaven and all of the rainbow colors. As well as how Jesus and the angels look.

I picked this book up by chance, not knowing some of the things that would bring me to tears and comfort at the sametime. One being how Colton talked about the angels singing to him while he was in the hospital. It made me think of our babies and how angels comfort them. I thought about the pink clouds that I saw out my window the morning before Laken was born. Another was how he told his mother about her miscarriage a year before he was born. How he had met his other sister in heaven. It is sure to pull at your heartstrings, especially coming from a 3 year old little boy.
